The most important way to find a spit roast caterer in Sydney is word of mouth. There will be several online companies listed in telephone directories, but how do you really know that things are going to be the best. Your friends and co-workers should be able to recommend a spit roast/barbecue caterer in your area for you.

As I said the phone book and Internet will also have lists of companies in the region. If you do not have a friend recommend a spit roast catering service for you, then you need to find by other means. The search for information is easy, but how you choose a company that is not recommended? You certainly would not choose a name just because it sounds interesting.

Online resources you can find more information about a business. You can go directly to the business site to restore find the dishes they make and their prices, but it is only half the information that you need. You will also need to taste the food before hiring them. Most catering companies offer taste tests and menu ideas before you commit to make sure you are both on the same page. Another important aspect of choosing a BBQ Caterer is checking their credentials. Leaders usually attend four years of college education in culinary arts. So ask questions about their background experience and references is a way to get information. You should also check with the Better Business Bureau for any complaints. Most companies who received those complaints are recorded and could be an area to avoid. It also helps you to find catering companies that you want for your next party.

Here is a recommended caterers in Australia

Have you ever taken a trip where it seemed that everything went wrong? What should have been a care free, relaxing vacation or an efficient business trip quickly turns into a stress-filled nightmare. No one likes to dwell on the negative, but the old saying “hope for the best, and plan for the worst” has a lot of truth to it. Many things can go wrong and planning ahead will help you avoid unwanted drama, stress and hassles. Travel delays or accidents, hidden fees and costs, lost or delayed luggage, medical or dental emergencies, travel accidents, rental car damage, potential terrorist attack alerts, emergency assistance problems, identity theft and more are common problems that can, and most likely, will occur on some occasion during trip taking. In hindsight could most of the hassles on that trip have been prevented or made more bearable by planning for the unexpected? Here are some tips for doing just that.

1. Start planning your trip early. Four to six weeks before you depart is not too early to start planning. If you are purchasing a comprehensive or all-inclusive package, make sure you research the agency you are dealing with. Some offer packages that guarantee no surprise up-charges or add-ons. If you don’t understand their policies or package rates, make them explain it to you until you do understand it. Asking the right questions beforehand can eliminate disappointment over unrealized expectations. Know what you are getting for your money. Never assume that what you think you are hearing is factual until it is fully explained and you see it guaranteed in writing. If you are planning a business trip on short notice, use an agency that you trust, or one that you consider reputable.

If short notice trips are normal for you, or if you know that travel could be required on short notice due to an emergency situation, keep a bag packed in your closet with the things you consider basic necessities. Include at least one complete change of clothes, and necessary toiletries. Also include a small amount of your regular medication, if applicable, and important account numbers and phone numbers. If packing space is at a premium, purchase sample size toiletries to keep in your “short notice” bag. Make sure it is of carry-on size for airline travel. This will take some stress off in the event that plans must be made quickly. If your luggage is lost or delayed, you will be glad you took the time to pack your carry-on bag in this manner.

2. Research your trip thoroughly. The Internet is a good choice for doing this. To get the best deals and the best accommodations to suit your preferences, there is no substitute for being informed and fully aware of what is available. In the information age, there are huge amounts of travel information available on the World Wide Web. Tickets, and even permits, in some cases, can be printed on your home computer printer from the Internet. Rental car reservations, hotel reservations are made easy for convenient prices and quality comparisons on-line.

3. Plan for the unexpected: Troubles can occur when you least anticipate them, so take along some peace of mind and protect your trip investment by purchasing travel insurance. Make sure the travel insurance you purchase covers job loss or transfers, uninhabitable accommodations, emergency assistance, travel accidents, delays, lost or delayed luggage, weather-affected cancellation, medical and dental expenses, terrorism, and identity theft. In addition, plans should offer flexible coverage periods for pre-existing medical conditions. Choose a company that answers all calls with a live person, not an automated attendant. Confirm all your purchases and reservations at a later time either on the Web or by phone to ensure no glitches have occurred.

4. Make sure you will have all the arrangements and paperwork you’ll need- airline tickets, passports, visas, maps, rental car and hotel reservations, permits as well as health and travel insurance documentation. Carry enough cash for emergencies, phone calls or unexpected fees. Don’t carry large amounts of cash. Traveler’s checks and credit cards are a better alternative. Make a list of all the pertinent numbers of your credit card, driver’s license, visas, passport, ticket, reservation, prescriptions and any other important documentation. Include any emergency phone numbers to call if any of these items are lost or stolen. Put a copy of this list in your carry-on, and carry the other one on your person.

Have someone you trust watch your home or apartment, or house-sit while you are away. Think about the things that need to be done in your absence- watching and feeding your pets, watering your plants, etc. If you don’t have a house/pet-sitter, have a light left on inside your residence so it would appear that someone is home at night. If you have someone checking up on things periodically, have them rotate the lighting and retrieve your mail and your newspapers. Another option to this is to have your newspaper and mail delivery temporarily suspended. You can also put your lighting on inexpensive timers, which can closely imitate your normal lighting routines.

5. Write out an itinerary- before you head out the door, give someone you know and trust a written copy of your trip plans. This should include: Your estimated time of departure, mode of transportation (flight numbers and/or make, model and license plate numbers), the names, addresses and phone numbers (especially cell phone numbers) of all group members traveling, any relevant medical conditions that may affect you or your travelling companions. Also include your travel insurance policy names, numbers and beneficiary information, your hotels’ phone number and address and expected time of arrival, time of return, and all pertinent return travel information.

Make arrangements to contact the person holding your itinerary at specific intervals during the trip, and then again when your trip is over. Agree with your contact person on a procedure for contacting the authorities if you do not report in by a certain time. This can be especially important when traveling in high-risk areas of the world, or even anywhere outside the United States. In some cases, if you have a pet and choose to hire a reputable pet-sitter or house-sitter, this can be your contact person.

In short, the quality of your trip depends largely on proper planning for the unexpected. Most of us like to think that things will come off without a hitch, but the truth is that even with the best of planning, things can, and will go wrong from time to time. Planning early, thorough research, double checking arrangements, coverage and documentation, and writing out an itinerary may not completely dispel unexpected problems, but it does produce a peace of mind and assurance knowing that there is a plan in place to deal with the unexpected if it does come about.

Naturally, if you can fly, you’d save a lot of travel time. But if you are carting around five or six people, it’s more economical to just drive Hwy 5 is a straight shot and not too painful (except for when you hit cow territory for five or ten minutes – just use your recycle air button and you’ll be fine) Besides, you’ll want your car to get around the mega city (cities) area.

OK, leave on a Saturday and get there by late afternoon or evening if you left late. You can either have dinner and settle in for the night or start touring right away if you have any time left.

Hollywood is always great for sightseeing and searching for any kind of food you can think of. Make sure to walk on the stars and visit the Chinese Mann Theater. You’ll recognize stars of every form of entertainment on the sidewalk and you’ll discover how big or little some of the big stars feet and hands are in front of the Theater. Shopping abound in this 2-3 block area. And you will see Kiss, superman and other star wannabes all over there.

Not a whole lot of time. Must think quick. You can buy a map of the stars to see where actors live (or used to live) It can be fun.

Must go over to the Beverly Hills Hotel. Love that hotel. It’s such an icon in movies. Snap those pics! Swing over to nearby Rodeo Drive and pass by those gorgeous homes as you go. Quick stop at Rodeo. See the nice shops and galleries. Maybe get a bite or two.

Then onto Venice Beach and Santa Monica Beach or Malibu. We usually swing by Venice as there are a lot of characters and street entertainers there (and inexpensive shopping) – depends on what you want. Santa Monica has the carnival rides and a nice park like area and Malibu is a little bit more exclusive and further out.

If you have time, drive in the hills to check out the homes. Like to party? There are lots of places. Whatever fits your needs. I haven’t had much time to party there when I go as we always have kids with us, so I can really offer much in that territory.

So much more in L.A., but must go to Disneyland in Anaheim. Go two days if you have time because you can go to Disneyland and California Adventure since they are right across from each other. Start early in Disneyland, swing over to California Adventure and end up back in Disneyland. It’s all great and the employees are super nice. My personal favs – Space Mountain, It’s a Small World, Tower of Terror and California Screaming. OH! And, and, well, most everything else. Make sure to get pics with Mickey, Tarzan and whoever else is out there. And see the shows and fireworks. You’d kill off two days easy and be nice and tired.

Whew! Just one more day to squeeze in. So many theme parks to go to, not to mention the other great beaches and towns. Considering the whirlwind at Disney, I tend to swing over to Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach (all on Hwy 1). Huntington is great if you like to surf, play in the waves or just want to watch the surfers and shop/eat at the great shopping area by the main pier. Newport Beach has Balboa Island (check out the boats and gorgeous homes), shopping (like Fashion Island and more) and more shopping, galleries and eating all along Hwy 1. Then there’s my favorite, Laguna Beach – heavy on the art. Cliffs, beach, shopping, eating. Las Brisas is always a great spot to stop and eat. Parking is tough – bring lots of quarters. But, for me, it’s a must. In the summer, they have a great art festival just down the road from the beach. If you can’t get there during the festival, there’s still a lot of art galleries there. Just start walking.

Sorry, but time to start heading home. Must make more time for the next trip as there was so much that we missed like Universal Studios, other studio tours, Getty Museum, lots of theme parks and more. Not even enough time to get down to San Diego and La Jolla. Must squeeze in more next time. Plus, want deter and stop over in Santa Barbara, Hearst Castle, Solvang and Monterey on the way if we find more time.

Safe and happy travels,

Here’s How They Can Be A Great Idea! or Not!

You’re looking for the perfect gift to give that graduate, or those newlyweds, or a loved one at Christmas. They are not Home Depot or Kmart shoppers or maybe they are but you want to be just a bit more creative.

What’s the answer? give them travel gift vouchers, also known as travel gift cards. They can use the card to pay for any travel deals they find.

We tend not to think about travel as a legitimate potential gift, mainly because of scheduling and pricing; the traveler needs to work out their own travel arrangements, finding cheap airline tickets and hotel deals. If you buy a voucher that’s only good for a particular airline or hotel, the recipient may not use that airline for 16 years. You don’t want to buy a voucher that will only pay for Cancun travel deals if Uncle Joe hates warm weather.

The key in including travel cards in your gift-giving toolkit is to make sure the voucher is flexible. You want to choose a company that is most likely to offer the kind of travel services wanted by the target of your generosity. Many companies no doubt make a nice profit when they sell gift travel gift vouchers and gift cards that are never redeemed. We want to avoid that!

One option would be to purchase a Visa or Mastercard with a prepaid credit balance. Those can be used for a variety of purchases and might be the way to go. However, there could be the temptation for the recipient to use that credit on something other than a vacation. So if your desire is to really encourage them to look for travel deals, and to use the credit for airfare and hotel reservations, you need to be a bit more specific.

One of the best ways we’ve found to obtain nice travel gift vouchers that will encourage that Cancun vacation is to go with Travelocity. They probably will be the most flexible option since the credit can be used for many of the travel options offered by this major website. You might find other sources as well, but by going with one of the major online travel companies you can give a slightly exotic present. If you purchase the right gift card, it can be a gift that creates lifelong vacation memories for a loved one.

The Whitsundays can offer you the best sailing experience ever, mid-range in cost but good quality cruises are plentiful. There are catamarans, cruises, powerboats and traditional vessels fit affordable price range. Pacific Sunrise will show you the beautiful Whitsundays in the best possible way. Yacht hire Whitsundays

The best snorkeling is generally around the north end of Hook Island and Hayman Island although it is not restricted to there. Border Island has some very good spots as well and plenty of options are available. Northerly breezes and tide may dictate when and where snorkeling takes place and I have seen days when the water is crystal, I have also seen it like pea soup. Being island based if you’re diving or into the snorkeling try to pick the neap tides when minimal movement of water occurs and visibility is generally better.

Your hosts are gracious and knowledgeable and you’ll have a bloody good time. The best way to see the best place in Australia.

Five domestic flights for 2 weeks in Philippines. It was a short vacation with more time spent in the airport.

Cebu Pacific Air

Because I was traveling in a very tight budget, all my flights were catered by Cebu Pacific Air. The rates were very economical with various options in the flight schedules.

I actually like their branding and marketing concept. It reflected a casual and sporty aura starting from the t-shirt uniforms of the ground crew and flight attendants but this should not be an excuse for the staff grooming and bearing.

Indeed Cebu Pacific Air does not depict a monster corporate outlook but a well groomed and tidy crews are expected in any airline industries. Flying with Cebu Pacific Air so many times during that period, I noticed that the grooming standards were not consistent.

Don’t get me wrong. I liked traveling with Cebu Pacific Air. I admire their creativity such as playing a question and answer game with some Cebu Pacific Air tokens as prizes. It was a great and innovative way to entertain bored passengers.

However, I think what disgraces the Cebu Pacific Air is it misses the value of punctuality. Most of the trips I had were delayed. I can understand that they no longer serve snacks or meals during the trips to cut the cost and keep a low airline fares. But being delayed for most of the flights, it is a nightmare.

Flying with Cebu Pacific Air was a great experience except for the flight delays.

One fine evening I was standing in our back yard talking with our neighbor, John, when our conversation turned to fruit trees. It made me think of a question that had been nagging me since we first arrived here in the highlands of Papua New Guinea.

I noticed a strange practice right away, on the first day we were here. People here wrap up their stalks of green bananas while they’re still growing on the tree. You see it everywhere, a banana tree with a stalk of bananas all wrapped up in plastic, or burlap sacks, or some other type of material. It looks a bit strange, particularly since some of the banana trees are twelve to fifteen feet tall. Wrapping all the stalks up must be a bit of a chore.

Banana trees grow profusely in this area and there are many different varieties. There are sweet bananas, cooking bananas, fat bananas, skinny bananas, long and short bananas.

So here was my chance and I asked John why everyone wrapped up their bananas. He told me there are several reasons for “wrapping bananas.” First and foremost it is to keep the large fruit bats from eating and ruining them. John said he once lost a nice bunch of bananas to fruit bats before he learned about wrapping them. Also, people here think that wrapping the bananas makes them grow bigger and ripen faster. He himself had posed the same question to a native friend of his. His friend had explained the reasons for wrapping up the bananas.

Then this friend also explained why “white people” have such large feet: because they always wear socks and shoes and thus their feet are all “wrapped up.”

I don’t know whether wearing socks and shoes causes feet to grow larger, but it can certainly contribute to them getting more ripe. I had a friend whose feet got so ripe… but that’s another story.
